About Nel Kwiatkowska
Nel Maria Kwiatkowska was born in Poland. Her art education consists of studies at the Warsaw University, Dept. of Architecture and a training she received under the established polish architect, Tomasz Plucinski. She has resided in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, since 1989. Currently, besides her artistic pursuits, Nel works as a computer systems designer for a major consulting company.
Nel Kwiatkowska works in diverse media and techniques from paintings in oil, inks and watercolors to pencil and pastel drawings to freestanding and relief sculpture. The favourite themes of her work are architecture, people and landscapes. Ensuing artworks are usually created in short series. "Diversity of subjects and techniques, non-repetitiveness and purity of style - these words describe my artistic approach", she says.
One of Nel's paintings placed amongst the winners of the 2003 International Art Competition organized by the National Academy of Fine Arts of Brazil. The honourable mention was displayed during NAFA exhibit in Sao Paulo, Brazil in November 2003 and in Vienna, Austria in January 2004.
The artist's works were exhibited in Europe, North and South America in recent years and may be found in private collections.
